Easy steps to a younger complexion that you shouldn’t forget
1 Fill up on fruit
Antioxidants are little gems when it comes to anti-ageing – they can keep skin clear and complexions smooth and they’re a breeze to add to your diet. Berries, watermelon and kiwis have high levels of antioxidants, as well as being a rich source of other skin-loving nutrients such as vitamin C which helps maintain collagen, and vitamin E, which fights free radicals. Why not make yourself an antioxidant-packed fruit salad or smoothie to start your day off right?
2 Take time to de-stress
Chronic stress is known to damage and shorten our telomeres, the caps at the end of our DNA that protect our chromosomes and allows our cells to divide. When these become too short, our cells stop developing and we start to see the effects of ageing. There are several ways to keep telomeres long, one of which is to look after our mental health and
banish stress. To help with this, try to ensure you’re fitting in some me-time every day, even if it’s just five minutes of peace. Mindfulness is the perfect technique for this. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, breathing evenly. Concentrate on your breathing, letting other worries and concerns drop away.
3 Get a full night’s sleep
Applying your favourite concealer is often the first approach when it comes to looking less tired – we all know that when you’re looking and feeling fatigued, you lack that youthful glow. The best way to change this is of course to get a full night’s sleep. Eight hours of shut-eye gives your body the chance to rest and repair, boost your immune system, lower cortisol levels and keep your skin rejuvenated. We love Kiss the Moon’s range for overnight nourishment – try their Calm After Dark Face Oil to re-balance stressed-out skin while you sleep.
