Keeping your makeup brushes clean is one of the most important aspects of skincare - and there are plenty of natural ways to do this that are chemical and nasty-free!
Shop aisles are filled with hundreds of new products designed to clean your brushes - but why break the bank for chemical products when the best methods could be hiding in your kitchen cupboard?
A bar of natural unscented soap is all you need to clean your makeup brushes. Faith in Nature do a lot of different types of natural soaps including Unfragranced Handmade Soap With Wild Harvested Seaweed (£1.31). All you need to do is rub your soap into a damp warm flannel, and rub your brushes into the soap. Quick, simple and effective.
Coconut oil is the product of the moment and be used for literally everything and cleaning your makeup brushes is no exception. The oil will make them silky soft and the coconut will leave them smelling amazing too!
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a scientist mix up one tablespoon of Mr Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (£2.81) with half a teaspoon of washing up liquid in a cup of hot water. Soak your brushes in this for 10 minutes then rinse and leave them to dry.
Ditch the apple cider vinegar and whip out the washing up liquid. Abel & Cole Citrus Washing up Liquid, Organic, Greenscent (£3.50) is a great one to try. Use this in the same way your would use the bar of soap for super soft, fresh makeup brushes.
If you don’t have time to be mixing up household solutions, there are natural makeup brush cleansers out there. The Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush and Sponge Sanitizing Wash (£8) is a great natural example. If you're looking for some new brushes to test out these cleaning tips on, check out our post on the Vegan Makeup Brushes You Need In Your Beauty Bag.
