We all adore Christmas but our bodies are right little Scrooges.
The Food Fairies
This is because the festive period is a time when we pelt them with bite-sized and bubble shaped weapons of destruction! Too much chocolate, too much meat and way too much fizz!
So how do we make it through this tinsel-decked assault course with our healthy halos firmly intact?
There are two body organs in particular that require some chewed-up-charity this season: your digestive system and your liver.
The key is to prepare your stomach for attack. Step forward our trusted tonic, cider vinegar… Tip a tablespoon into a glass of water with lemon slices, hold your nose, and gulp down! First thing in the morning, and before meals, it stimulates stomach acid production, preventing heartburn and indigestion, whilst generally working to tame your over-fed tummy.
Let’s not forget your liver. It has to belt out bile in order to digest the fatty festive foods, whilst continuously sweeping out all the alcohol!
Say no to caffeine, if bubbles are your thing – at least this means one less burden. Also a garden of green leaves should be seen on every plate. Start your day with an unconventional albeit delicious smoothie of baby spinach, parsley, pineapple, yoghurt, cinnamon and a squeeze of lemon to equip your liver for any toxic downpours ahead!
