If you’d like to detox but don’t want an extreme cleanse, naturopaths reckon a day a week on a diet of vegetable juice is beneficial for everyone (except those suffering from diabetes). Try adding these ingredients to your shopping list for fantastic healthful juices.
Beetroot juice: high in iron and trace elements, it helps protect the liver and bile ducts. It encourages detox processes and tastes pleasant. However it is high in sugar so check with a doctor if you have diabetes or blood glucose problems.
Carrot juice: packed with antioxidants, carrot can help battle disease and ageing. Its essential oils also improve digestive function and may even help balance weight.
Celery juice: a strong alkaline which may help rheumatic and arthritic conditions.Helps to regulate the water balance in the body and may also soothe insomnia.
Liver flush: a famous detox juice from polarity therapy. Helps clear the liver, gallbladder, kidneys and intestinal tract. Put four tablespoons cold-pressed olive or almond oil with twice the amount of fresh lemon juice in a blender. Add six cloves of garlic plus fresh ginger and blend until frothy. Drink immediately.
